*** IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF TAMESIDE EAST FOODBANK ***

2nd April 2020

We would like to thank you all for your continued support over these challenging weeks.

Unfortunately, we have now reached a position where we are having to suspend all our activities until further notice.

The trustees, with the support of the steering group, have made the difficult decision that we will continue operating until Saturday 4th of April. Following that, ALL OUR FOODBANK ACTIVITIES WILL BE SUSPENDED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

We have been in conversation with Tameside council who have set up an emergency hub and a programme to feed anyone who contacts them requiring food at this time. They have a helpline number (0161 342 8355) which we are directing all enquiries to and are sharing widely. We are working hard to ensure all people who need our service are fed into the council’s provision instead.

Many people have made financial donations to us recently, unfortunately we are facing severe stock shortages and are unable to purchase items in bulk. Stock levels mean it is no longer possible for us to provide for clients adequately. We are working hard to use this finance to try to find the necessary stock which will allow us to reinstate our service.

As I am sure you understand, we also have a duty to protect our unpaid volunteer team.

We wish to assure everyone that this decision was not taken lightly and we have worked hard to keep our service open for as long as possible.

We will be regularly reviewing this position using government guidance, Trussell Trust guidance and the availability of foodstuffs for purchasing.

Please share this post with others.
